Most notably, Dr. Cook served as the mental training coach for the San Antonio Spurs for eight years that included their first two World Championships.

Author of Golf’s Sacred Journey, Seven Days at the Links of Utopia
David’s first performance novel, Golf’s Sacred Journey: Seven Days at the Links of Utopia, released in 2006 became a best seller. It was turned into a movie, Seven Days in Utopia, staring Academy Award Winner Robert Duvall who acted out Dr. Cook’s performance principles on the big screen. Dr. Cook served as Executive Producer on this award-winning film.
David’s 30-year career has included notable leadership roles. He served at the University of Kansas where he developed the Applied Sport and Performance Psychology Program. He is a past president of the National Sport Psychology Academy and due to his unique and successful work with elite performers, David was selected to represents the United States at the International Olympic Academy in Olympia, Greece in 1988.
David owns and operates a successful consulting business, coaching elite performers in sport, business, and life. He has been featured on ESPN and the Golf Channel, and his articles have appeared in Sports Illustrated, Golf Magazine, and Golf Digest. Golf Digest named him one of the “Top 10 Mental Game Experts”.
David received his undergraduate degree from Baylor and earned a Master’s and Ph.D. in Applied Sport and Performance Psychology from the University of Virginia.

The mission of the Links of Utopia is to equip and encourage those on their sacred journey and those who seek to help others find lasting significance. Beyond providing a way for readers to purchase the book in quantities, The Links of Utopia provides additional resources and experiences to extend the reader’s experience with the messages of the book. One example of its’ offerings is the companion study called Golf’s Sacred Journey Guide Book. Designed for individual or small group studies, this guide allows the reader to explore the principles found in the book. In addition, Sacred Journey Retreats, held in Utopia, Texas and hosted by Dr. Cook, provide life-transforming experiences for those who want to deepen their sacred journey. The Links of Utopia also works with local groups and ministries to host events featuring Dr. Cook and the messages found in Golf’s Sacred Journey.
Married over 29 years, David and his wife Karen have two daughters. The family splits their time between Utopia and Fredericksburg, TX.
