Speaking from a personal record of high achievement, Mike Bossy, a former hockey superstar-turned-businessman, offers informed and entertaining presentations on what it takes today to create a winning competitive strategy.
Mike Bossy is remembered as one of the all-time great goal-scorers in the history of the NHL. In his first year in the league, he won the Calder Trophy for rookie of the year for scoring 53 goals, a record just recently broken. Bossy went on to become the first NHL player to score 50 goals in nine consecutive seasons. In his ten-year career with the New York Islanders, he was a member of four Stanley Cup winning teams. He also played in two Canada Cup finals, scoring the championship-winning goal in one of them.
Among other honours, Bossy was given the Conn Smythe Trophy for most valuable player in the playoffs in 1982. And on three occasions (1983, 1984, and 1986), he was awarded the Lady Byng Trophy for most sportsmanlike player in the NHL. Bossy was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1991.
After hanging up his skates in 1987, Bossy a year later published an autobiography of his hockey career entitled, Boss — The Mike Bossy Story. After several years as a Marketing Executive with Humpty Dumpty Chips, Mike is now VP of Public Relations for his New York Islanders and the Governor for Minor Hockey in Laval as well a co-host of a Montreal radio comedy show.
An articulate and entertaining speaker in both English and French, Mike Bossy draws on sport and business experiences to stress the need for commitment, teamwork, and fair play to achieve superior success in both business and sports.
“Smart. Funny. Totally in control at all times. Did a great job at grasping a really substantial role as MC for this event and related extremely well to the audience and the executive. He was a perfect fit for this program.”
